CGH Assists in Creating World’s First Drone Registration Program

CGH Technologies Inc., in collaboration with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), launched the world’s first drone registration program on December 20th, 2015. Using CGH’s ASSET system, drone operators throughout Ireland are now be able to register their drones via a dedicated online portal. Each drone entered into the system receives a unique registration number from the IAA. Creating an account in ASSET also allows users to receive the benefits of IAA aeronautical source data for mapping airspace, navigational aids, and warning areas. The goal of the registration program is twofold: educating drone operators about Irish Airspace and collaborating with the military, garda and planning councils to increase awareness for safer skies.

Glyn Owen, COO of CGH stated: “Our team was dedicated in enhancing drone registry into the ASSET platform and meeting the 3 week deployment schedule. By utilizing an AGILE approach, CGH was able to collaborate with the IAA and go live with the new drone registration feature by the deadline promised to online users.”

IAA ASSET is a Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud solution, and is accessible twenty four hours a day, seven days per week, from anywhere in the world. ASSET is a full Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) to Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) suite based on a single model that allows users to have access to one system for their analysis, data ingestion and mapping whilst meeting 95% of Aeronautical Data Quality and European Aeronautical Safety Agency standards.
